In literal terms, ‘enoteca’ is Italian for ‘wine shop’. In the old country, it served as a hub of wine activity—a place winemakers could store their products, and where both travelers and locals could gather to taste and learn about, and purchase locally produced wines. Hence, the multitude of ‘enotechi’ that dotted the Italian landscape-and still do.

Our menu of classic Italian sfizi – small plates – focuses heavily on antipasti, salumi, crostini, insalate, panini, handmade pastas, and a selection of traditional comfort dishes to be enjoyed with a glass or bottle of wine in our spacious, rustic-chic dining room or airy, vine-draped patio.

Enoteca La Storia’s doors opened in 2010 as an international wine bar and bottle shop in the spirit of the authentic enoteche that dot the Italian landscape – a place to explore and enjoy small-production, hidden gem, and rising star wines from near and far around the world.
Our award-winning wine philosophy – led by Advanced Sommelier and co-owner Michael Guerra – is simple: offer a thoughtful, eclectic, and distinct assortment of local and international wine varietals, regions, and labels at highly competitive prices.
The wines we pour are complemented by a menu of authentic Italian aperitivi and classic dishes, inspired by the family recipes and seasonal garden of co-owner Joe Cannistraci.
We’ve expanded the Enoteca La Storia family to include multiple bottle shops and tasting bars across the Bay Area. Today, Enoteca La Storia – in combination with our three Ancora Vino locations and award-winning Wine Club – represents one of the most exceptional wine experiences in the Bay Area.
